THE ALTARS

TheAltars offers a contemplativegaze upon the dormant objects of everyday life. Through photography, theproject seeks to rediscover their symbolic dimension and grant them a renewedpoetic existence.

Itspoint of departure is the notion of the altar as a universal space ofconnection between the human and the transcendent. Across cultures, the altarhas served as a place where objects transcend their utilitarian purpose:stones, fruits, metals, or tools become mediators between the visible and the invisible, between matter and spirit. In this series, seemingly unrelated objects —organicand mechanical, ephemeral and enduring— are gathered to form small contemporaryaltars. The union of the disparate creates a harmonic tension that unveils aninvisible web of correspondences, a silent spirituality dwelling within things.
